Prodigal Father Pagan Son – Anthony Menginie / Kerrie Droban

Prodigal Father Pagan Son Growing Up Inside the Dangerous World of the Pagans Motorcycle Club is an interesting biker book by Anthony “LT” Menginie and Kerrie Droban who also wrote Running With The Devil. While technically it is a biker book, it has an interesting angle in that the son of a Pagan president “Mangy”, Anthony Menginie never actually gets his full patch. I’m not even sure if he rode a motorcycle. However it is a great look at life as a kid who grew up around the Pagans Motorcycle Club. The book goes into great detail events from LT’s early childhood that shaped his attitude towards the world, the Pagans, and his father. The book follows him through his teen years and into early adulthood where he decides to part ways with The Pagans but not the biker lifestyle. In addition to the characters you might expect such as LT and his father and mother, there are others that are well developed. The Saint is one of my favorites and I think an entire book could be written about him as well. The Gorilla is another character. You can read about the conflict between Gorilla and Mangy which takes a large part of the book in this article. In addition to the story of the son of a Pagan president growing up in the Pagans, some interesting commentary about known events is included. I had heard about the Pagans attack on The Hells Angels at The Hellraiser Ball but it is always interesting to hear comments about such events from insiders and to see what effect the event had on the MC. Prodigal Father Pagan Son is a good book, I enjoyed it very much. The ending was interesting as well. I wasn’t expecting a book about someone not officially in the club but the lift of Anthony Menginie is an interesting one well worth writing a book.

Reviews at Amazon are mixed. Those expecting a book about the Pagans MC were disappointed and nearly everyone agreed that the life LT lived as a child was one no child should have to go though.

Out Bad – Donald Charles Davis

Out Bad

If you’ve read Under And Alone by William Queen, or maybe Honor Few Fear None by Ruben Cavazos, then you’re going to want to read Out Bad by Donald Charles Davis. You might call this the third book in a trilogy that was never intended to be. I started Out Bad last night and blasted 50% through in a few hours, I could not put it down. If you’ve followed the Mongols MC saga since much of the club was put away in a 2008 raid called Operation Black Rain you’ll be engrossed by Out Bad as it analyzes events leading up and into and after Operation Black Rain. The book begins piecing together the events leading up to and what happened during the murder of a Mongel shot while riding his bike. Suspicion is placed on several undercover ATF officers who were at the same party as the victim. They never left parties early because they were gathering intel. However on this one night they rode to the party with the victim and left and hour before the victim left. What really happened? Read Out Bad and form your own opinion. I can’t wait to finish the rest of this book. If you are a reader of true crime or biker books fiction and non-fiction you’ll be glad you picked up Out Bad.

Honor Few Fear None Mongols President Ruben Doc Cavazos

Having read Under And Alone long ago, I was very excited to see some of the other side of the coin in this book. Honor Few Fear None is the history of The Mongols motorcycle gang and an up to date commentary from the Now Former President of The Mongols, Ruben Doc Cavazos.
This book is the life story about Ruben Cavazos “Doc” who was the International President of the Mongols MC. The book in the first half gives an inside view of the 2004 bust that put Doc Cavazos and many other Mongols in custody until most charges were dismissed. Then Honor Few Fear None goes into his childhood and young adult years as he made the life journey from small boy in Texas to East LA member of The Avenues street gang. Another part of the story tells the inside story of how the Mongols MC went from a club with few members to one with rapid growth and stronger members pushing out the old guard who didn’t have the same vision for The Mongols that Doc and his group had. I’d highly recommend reading Honor Few Fear none. Since the book was written, many more of The Mongols including Doc Cavazos have been arrested and jailed. Hopefully we can expect more writing from Doc Cavazos to update readers on the continuing story of The Mongols Motorcycle Club. Honor Few Fear None is the motto of members of The Mongols so it is a great title for this book. The book is available in paperback, hard cover and now in Kindle edition for the modern reader of biker books like this. Amazon has 44 reviews of this book with a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

Under And Alone William ” Billy ” Queen & The Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang

Under And Alone is a great book by William Queen who provides an inside view of The Mongols motorcycle gang. In Under And Alone Billy Queen tells the story of his attempt to gain the trust and respect of members of The Mongols. Eventually becoming patched in as a full member of the club. While it is certainly interesting to learn the mechanics and characters of the gang. It is also compelling how he describes the mental twist between choosing between his brothers in law enforcement and his new brothers in The Mongols. The official title of this bike book is Under And Alone The True Story Of The Undercover Agent Who Infiltrated America’s Most Violent Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. If this sounds familiar, it may be because you’ve seen the movie Beyond The Law with Charlie Sheen. That movie was based on the experience of William Queen in his infiltration of The Mongols. Rumor has it that another movie directed by Mel Gibson called Under And Alone also based on this story of law enforcement infiltrating The Mongols. One of the more interesting tales in the book involves the inside story of the war between The Hells Angels and The Mongols and Billy’s view inside that war. If you read just one biker book Under And Alone is probably my pick of the bunch.
